Guys - I purchased a HP ProDesk 600 G2 SFF Intel Core i5 6th Gen Quad-Core 8GB 256GB SSD Windows 10 P on ebay 2 years ago and I think I am in need of an upgrade. I don't do anything crazy on my computer - simply use these apps but they are open ALL the time - MS Outlook, Excel (2-3 small spreadsheets) & Teams, Notepad++ Edge browser with 10-15 tabs and Evernote. The last two apps are the ones which I feel are slow to react vs my Lenovo 9th gen X1 with a much faster CPU & SSD

I've uninstalled a lot of things in case it was software causing random freezes for a couple of seconds in my Edge browser or slow to react Evernote which has some 15-page notes. Evernote is not the best designed software but it still works well on my laptop and their forums do have folks listing our a fast ssd as helping performance

With that being said, what do you folks think? Upgrade CPU & SSD or just SSD to start or just buy another PC? For my apps, is i5-6500 a slow CPU? Should I try overclocking? Data dump from Aida64 below. If there's some tool that helps me plot a graph showing which components are slowing down app performance, that'll help. Task manager supposedly has this on W10 but I run Server 2019

Thanks

The PSU is a mere 200W unit with proprietary connectors to the motherboard, not to mention that the form factor is small. If you can get past the PSU limitations, you're relegated to working with low profile GPU's alone.

Might want to read through this;

I wouldn't spend anymore money on that prebuilt, outside of ram, though 16GB is plenty...so that's negated as well.

Yeah those little mini towers are what they are. Probably your best bet now is take out the ram and storage drives and move on. If on a tight budget I’d say try to get a decent b660 board and maybe an i3 12100 along with a budget case and power supply, then migrate the ram and storage over until you can do more with it.

I read that link. Do I need a GPU if I don't do any video editing? I only watch family videos which are shot on a Sony A6400 (XAVC S 4K 30P 100M) but when I'm not doing any other activity on the computer when watching these videos

Do you guys think the botleneck in my case is the CPU, RAM or the motherboard? I'm not necessarily tight on budget. I simply built it to be power-efficient since I pay very high power costs here in the north east (almost 40c/kwh). However, it's obviously getting my productivity down. I'm open to spending $1000 on a decent PC now. If I can get away buying something pre-built and I just have to add memory/storage, that'll be ideal since but I've also built a PC a while ago (took a full day LOL). With that being said, have you guys seen any forums where they post sample specs and even links to where to purchase (I think 2cpu had something in the past)
