Hello guys

Current spec: i5-6400 GTX1060 16GB Ram PS 500W Link to PC:https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-Desktop-PC-G11CD-B13-Core-i5-6400-2-70GHz-16GB-1TB-512GB-SSD-GTX1060-Win10/253386137675?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Please help me on updating my PC, since I want to play some games on high setting (To be more specific, I want to play PUBG with around 80~90 FPS in high setting). What should I upgrade guys? I think I will sell the old CPU and buy a new AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (Should I wait for Ryzen 2 coming out this April?) + CPU cooling (I dont want my PC to get hot). Also, do I need to upgrade MOBO and power supply too?

I'm a newbie so please do not mad at me :<. My budget is around $400-$500 (I'm planning to sell the old CPU if I upgrade this one, so if am about to sell it for about $100 my budget will be $500-$600)

Thank you so much for your time!

Great value for money, a bit lower IPC than their Intel counterparts but, for the money, you get additional cores/threads.

It's a tough one - In a perfect world I'd sell the current setup (maybe keeping the GPU)..... but that's easier said than done with RAM/GPU prices and the fact OEM boards are not overly sought after.

PUBG is a terrible title to build/upgrade your system around, as it's still relatively poorly optimized.

On top of that, GPU prices are ridiculous currently, so any sizeable upgrade is really off the table.

CPU-wise, the i5-6400 is still a decent CPU, albeit a little underwhelming on a base clock basis. An i7 upgrade would be nice, but I'd expect it to be disproportionate to the cost.
An i7-6700 or 7700 is going to set you back ~$300 alone. While you could potentially recoup $100 or so for the 6400, you're still in it for ~$200 and I don't personally feel you'd net +$200 "worth" of improvements.

For a GPU upgrade, a 1070 would be a nice upgrade IMO, some would argue the only upgrade worthwhile would be a minimum 1080. - but current prices make either pretty much impossible, nor worthwhile.

With a GPU upgrade, I'd expect to have to replace the PSU - but I'm not 100% sure on the specifics of the PSU used by ASUS in that system.

Thank you so much for your reply! What do you think about the Ryzen 5 1600 since they are on sale right now
