Hello hi all,

I want to ask for a specification that i choose. Which one is better for future? atleast 3-4 years. I read all review/video about this but i need more information.
My task will be half programming/rendering and half gaming probably better on high setting (ultra make my eye hurt).

Spec A:
Proc: Intel I5 8400 3.6ghz
Mobo:Gigabytes H310M S2
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB Gigabyte
Ram: Kingston hyperX 8GB 2666
SSD: 120Gb Galax gamer
PSU: hexa II 500W 80Plus
Case: Any case idk

Spec B:
Proc: Ryzen 5 2600 3.4ghz
Mobo:Gigabyte B450 aorus pro
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB Gigabyte
Ram: Klevv Bolt 8GB 3000
SSD: XPG S11 240gb
PSU: hexa II 500W 80Plus
Case: Any case idk

Of coz spec A cheaper than spec B but its still a bit only. Now im confius. Sorry for my english. It's on my currency so after i convert it wil be Spec A: $730 and spec B: $850.

Which one has an advantage for me in future?? Thank you for ur help.

Solution
GTX1070 is only useful for 1080p 144/165Hz or 1440p 60hz gaming.
If you intend only to play 1080p 60Hz, 1060 6G is alreaady good.
There is no 1070 6GB.

Depending on how complex and ig your editing work is, f the work is not big, I5 8400 will also do the job.
Everything down to your working load.

B360M is also still ok, if you have all the interfaces you need.
Actually, those 2 are quite similar in performance with their pros and cons.
For a pure gaming rig, the one with I5 8400 is the better pick, especially for above 60 FPS goal.
For a mixed bag usage e.g. game+streaming, rendering, etc., Ryzen 5 2600 is actually the better one.

Thanks for replying.

If i choose ryzen then for future maybe will upgrde gpu, should it consider stable or also need to change more rather than only gpu?

About stability, if you do not receive defective hardware , it should be stable. If not, RMA is there because of that.

Nobody can really know how the improvements in the next years will look like.
If the next 3-4 years would be like the last 3-4 years, you would have to upgrade only the GPU by then.
There is no real guarantee tho'.

The i5 gets better single core and quad core application use. Most games only use dual/quad cores. If you plan on doing rendering and video editing, going with AMD would be smarter, but going with a Ryzen 5 wouldn't be your best option. A ryzen 7 would be better.

Daily I use Visual studio for programming and Lightroom for editing. Also use database and tbh my laptop is i5 3gen with nvdia gt 2gb and 6gb ram, whenever i open visual studio and lightroom it will stuck :(... Do u think the spec i build for i5 8400 can run it without problem?

i use Visual studio 2010 (daily)
Lightroom 5 for editing (once in 2 month depending on the job xD)
sql server 2012 (daily)

when i stress i will play game such as City Skyline,The sims 3/4, Pubg,etcc..but not so hardcore..

Is the intel wil good enough for this or pick ryzen?

That's exactly why I said, the i5 gets better single/quad core performance that the ryzen 5 unless he's doing rendering. Then he wouldn't even want the ryzen 5 in that case, he'd be better off using the ryzen 7 for it's higher core counts.

If you really want to go for Intel, it is also not a big problem.
You still win some and loose some.
The difference is also depending on how you work.
e.g. how big is your rendering work, etc.

If you really do much in parallel, even 2600 is probably not enough.
For parallel work, more cores/threads is better, which means, Ryzen is the better.
If you wanna cut down the cost, how about those 1600 or 1600x, let see how cheap they are now.

Not so much for parallel sir. What if in spec A i change the mobo to TUF b360M and the gpu to gtx 1070 6gb? it's good enough for both editing/Programming ( not so heavy ) and gaming?
