Hello!
I'm about to pick a monitor for my PS5, which I'm expecting soon, but I can't decide between these 3:
  1. 4K, 60Hz, has HDR, HDMI 2.0
  2. 2K (1440p), 165Hz, has HDR, HDMI 2.0
  3. 1080p, 165Hz, has HDR, HDMI 2.0
I'm uncertain, because I don't get couple of things: If I go with option #2, does the PS5 have a 1440p mode @120Hz, or despite having a 2K monitor, the resolution will be lowered to 1080p? In that case, there will be no difference between #2 and #3, right? Also, does the majority of games run at 4k@120fps or is it 4k@60fps?

PS5 does not have a 1440p mode.

It is 1080p or 2160p.

The games run at 4k/60fps(adaptive scaling). Some run at 4k/120fps(adaptive scaling).

You want a 4k/120hz monitor with HDMI 2.1 and...

You want a 4k/120hz monitor with HDMI 2.1 and VRR for the upcoming update.

With that said a 4k/60fps monitor will work just fine with the PS5.

Thanks for the reply. I would love a 120Hz@4k with HDMI 2.1, but I'm not willing to get one, as they cost 3x the price of the console itself (at least in my country). However, the 4K one has FreeSync (assuming it equals VRR).

Probably not bad. Really no need for VRR as it's a 60hz monitor. For that price can't really ask for more.
Yeah, would do just fine I guess, since there's no 1440p option on the console. It's a shame that I find couple of monitors that do 4K@120Hz for a decent price. But they do it only thorough DisplayPort, which the PS5 doesn't have. They have HDMI 2.0 that won't allow 4k@120Hz, am I correct?

Forget about HDR in the budget class type monitors, it's a gimmick. It's technically present, but it's fake and doesn't really do anything to improve picture quality, often doing the reverse. For true HDR, that's a small fortune, those monitors are top line and not cheap, but are night and day different.

HDMI 2.0B is limited to 60Hz @ 4k, to get 120/144Hz requires 1440p or lower.

Really? But do you think that BenQ would lie for their HDR? They are maybe the best monitor manufacturers out there.
