Hey guys I've been trying to overclock my system but for some reason the scores vary like they will drop and I rise but if anyone can give some advice on what I should do please it would be helpful here is the link for 3dmark06 benchmark scores please help me!! I also noticed my memory for my video card is at 1.0mb I dont know if this is a mistake or what. I hope I didnt fry my card cause I kept it a low temps. It is supposed to be 640mb

my psu is an a antec 550w I have a 8800GTS 640mb one Optical Drive and my Western Digital 500g HDD
my score is only a 8735 with a amd phenom 9500 2.2 to 2.4 which ive seen people score so much higher.

What was the other people's score? Is your vidcard OCed? I'd also say your cpu is holding the vidcard back in 3dmark06.

usually I see scores up in the 10k to 12k range and yes I do have my 8800 gts OCed its it was originaly only 513 core I forgot what the memory was but now 633/892 memory right now but I think thats all my psu can handle right now cause I cant overclock either no more I just got my cpu to 2.5 today. But anything after that I get blue screened along with my video card. What do you mean by my cpu holding me back?

What I meant by cpu holding the card back is bottlenecking. This means your vidcard isn't performing to it's fullest because it has to wait for the cpu.

When you're comparing with other scores, do they also have a Phenom cpu at 2.4GHz? And you do have the latest drivers?

Yeah. Your score is acceptable, it's just on the low side. As long as you can play the games okay, it's all good. 3Dmark06 is just a reference, it is not an absolute tool to judge a system's performance.

Are you getting lower than average frames in games?

actually since I just got a 9818 score cause I pushed my processor now to 2.5 and also worked on my memory from 200mhz to 333 here how bout I give you complete specs so you can see better what I have

Cpu= AMD Phenom 9500 2.2 @ 2.5ghz
Cooled by nvidia Zalman
ECS A770M-A Motherboard - v1.0, AMD 770,
Ram= 4x512 Patriot ddr2 pc2 6400 800mhz
PSU= Antec 550w
Video card= Evga 8800gts 640mb 513/800mhz @ 633/892 mhz
western digital 200g Hard Drive
and 1 optical drive

what advice do you think would work as far as OC the memory the processor and the video card...I know my mobo sucks but its all i could afford at the time but o well right now. Do you think I should be able to overclock it more once I get a better PSU and im going to liquid cool it to😵h and I really appreciate you helping me.

Let's see...For OCing the vidcard, have you tried unlinking the shader clock from the core clock? That way you can maximize the core clock. I use Rivatuner to do this.

According to reviews, the Phenom can only get to 2.5-2.6GHz, a not much more. http://techreport.com/articles.x/14093

For memory, having 4 sticks make it difficult to OC. More sticks of ram means more voltage. What I recommend doing is setting the fsb to ram ratio to 1:1 and lower the timings as much as possible. It has been proven that there's no performance gain for games and most programs on any other settings, just as long as you lower the timings accordingly.
