Hi!
Tried posting this earlyer but i cant find it in the forums now so i'll try again...

This will be my first DIY build, can you please check if the parts are ok?

Approximate Purchase Date: this week

Budget Range: 650-700$ total

System Usage: Gaming

Parts:
- ASROCK B85M-HDS
not really sure about the motherboard, any tips?

- Intel Core i5 4570 s1150

- FSP RAIDER S ATX 550W 80+ Silver
OR
- FSP Hexa 500W
is it worth to go with the more expansive RAIDER or can i just stick with the cheaper HEXA? (about 14$ difference here) Or would you recommend something else? Maybe less W would be enough?

- Kingston 8GB 1600Mhz DDR3 HyperX Blu CL9 XMP KIT 2x4GB (KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX)
I'm also thinking about buying BEAST instead of BLU, maybe even a 1833Mhz BEAST, (that would be CL9 also, the cost difference is around 14$) but i read that the upgrade isnt worth the extra money since you cant really notice any difference. Also the 1833Mhz might be a problem for the motherboard?

- Cooler Master N300 NSE-300-KKN1 case

- 1TB WD 3.5" Caviar Blue SATAIII 64MB cache winchester (WD10EZEX)

- 120GB Samsung MZ-7TE120BW SSD 840 Series Evo Basic (MZ-7TE120BW)

- LG GH24NSB0 5,25" DVD SATA OEM

Not planning to buy a GPU yet, gonna use the comp with the intel integrated graphix for a few months. When i do buy one i'm planning around 200$, any suggestions?

Do you need to buy OS: No

Location: Hungary

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU, the rest doesnt really matter.

Overclocking: Probably not but i'm open to suggestions.

SLI or Crossfire: Probably not but i'm open to suggestions.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050 Not buying a new monitor yet, maybe in a few months or so, i'm hoping this rig will be able to run on higher resolutions, not planning multiple monitors or anything super-fancy.

Reason for upgrade: have a gaming laptop but its old, and i'd like a good desktop comp, preferrably one that i wont have to upgrade for the next 4-5 years, but i'm really on a budget...

Thanks for all the help!

(had some problems with posting, if i manage to post this twice, sorry)

Oh, as some additional information, tho its not too important, i'd prefer going with more power-friendly solutions if you have suggestions. Thanks again :)

Remember that powersupplies are definitely one thing you do not want to cheap out on. I'm not saying you cannot find a great deal on a good PSU, but if you buy a cheapo no name poor performing unit, it may give up the ghost and take out other components when it goes. As far as GPU the R9-270x may be in your price range when you get around to it, though I don't know how prices translate from the U.S. to Hungary. All of the parts seem like they will be compatible

Yes those are my thoughts about the PSU aswell, but i'm really no expert and maybe the hexa500w would already be good enough, thought i'd ask. :) I heard FSP was a reasonably good brand, but i'll go check those you mentioned too, see how much they go for around here.
Any thoughts about the memory? would buying a kingston beast 1833 instead of the 1600 blu make any difference at all?

Thanks for the GPU suggestion, i'll look into it! :)

did look into the GPUs you guys suggested, sadly where i live their prices are around 265$ wich is a bit more than what i'm planning to spend.
Also checked the mobo you suggested, its about 9$ more than the one i've picked. Its really not much, if you think its better than i'll go with that, thanks! (ASRock B85M Pro4)
About the memory, would that little difference be worth 14$?

PSU:
I checked the other options i have, since i really dont know much about this, can you guys help me pick the best one?
- Antec Strictly Power VP450P 450W Its the only antec in my price range here sadly, i'm a little afraid that the 450W might be too low?
- Cooler Master G500 500W (RS500-ACAAB1-EU)
- Cooler Master Thunder 500W (RS500-ACABM3-E1)
- FSP 600W FSP600-50ARN 85+
- FSP RAIDER S ATX gamer 550W 80+ Silver
- Fractal Design 500W Integra R2 /FD-PSU-IN2B-500W/
- Gigabyte Superb 570W 80+ (GE-E570A-C3)
- Corsair VS550 550W (CP-9020050-EU)
- Thermaltake SMART SP-530PCBWEU 530W

Thanks for all the trouble :)

Get the Corsair PSU... Unless you find any SeaSonic or XFX power supply within your budget with 500-600W. Corsair is a good brand as well.

About overclocking, if you'll do it I'd recommend you to get a 'Z' motherboard then.

System Usage: Gaming... Hmm... And you're going to use the Intel graphics from your CPU? You won't be able to play some games smoothly then. However, this would be just for some months, right?

And do you really need a SSD? If you'd remove that from the list, you could get better components and perhaps a GPU.

OK, you said you wanted an Intel CPU, but if you'd change to an AMD FX you could get quite a good GPU... Here's my suggestion. It has a FX-6300 (from AMD, six cores, 3.5GHz), a R9 270 (from GIGABYTE), a SeaSonic power supply (one of the best power supply brands out there), an aftermarket cooler, 8GB RAM Dual Channel (from G.Skill, Ares Series), a Zalman Z9 Plus case, an ASUS motherboard... There's no SSD however, though I've put a 2TB HDD instead 1TB HDD. Oh, and if it is out of your budget, just change the R9 270 to a GTX 750 or a GTX 750 Ti.

FX-6300: Quite a very decent CPU for gaming. It has six cores at 3.5GHz, though those six cores work as three cores actually.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus: An aftermarket cooler for the FX-6300.

Asus M5A97 LE R2.0: A motherboard from ASUS. It supports CrossFire in case you'll do CrossFire in the future.

G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory: G.Skill is one of the best RAM memory brands at the moment. This one has 8GB RAM in Dual Channel, which will work better than 1x8GB. 1600MHz speed.

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM: The hard drive. 2TB will be more than enough!

Gigabyte Radeon R9 270: It has 2GB VRAM. It will play all the games you want, just like the R9 270X. It is from AMD.

Zalman Z9 Plus ATX Mid Tower: A nice case from Zalman.

SeaSonic 520W power supply: It is from SeaSonic and 80+ Bronze. Great.

SAMSUNG Optical Drive: from Samsung!

cooler master http://www.game-debate.com/psu/index.php?ps_id=306&psu=Cooler%20Master%20Thunder%20600W
corsair http://www.game-debate.com/psu/index.php?ps_id=1221&psu=Corsair%20VS550
fsp http://www.game-debate.com/psu/index.php?ps_id=1233&psu=FSP%20RAIDER%20550W <- this is aparently the old bronze version, i was planning to buy the upgraded silver

between the CM600 and the corsair, i'd pick the CM i think
I only read good things about the FSP raider tho while i read some bad reviews about both the CM and the corsair ones.
Dont really know why i just like the FSP... the downside is that i'd have to get that from a different store, so i'd need to order from 2 different places 😛
The Cooler Master Thunder looks good also, and then i could get everything from the same store... But i read its a bit louder.
Another important thing is that the CM only comes with 3 years of warranty, while the FSP comes with 5.

Thanks a lot for all your help guys, i really apprechiate it, but if you dont actually have bad experiance with FSP i think i'll go with that one.
So here's the updated list:

Parts:
- Asrock B85M Pro4
- Intel Core i5 4570 s1150
- FSP RAIDER S ATX 550W 80+ Silver OR Cooler Master Thunder 600w (gonna spend some more time on this question 😀 )
- Kingston 8GB 1600Mhz DDR3 HyperX Blu CL9 XMP KIT 2x4GB (KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX)
- Cooler Master N300 NSE-300-KKN1 case
- 1TB WD 3.5" Caviar Blue SATAIII 64MB cache winchester (WD10EZEX)
- 120GB Samsung MZ-7TE120BW SSD 840 Series Evo Basic (MZ-7TE120BW)
- LG GH24NSB0 5,25" DVD SATA OEM

Its not really a need, just a quality of life improvement... i know some games will run crappy untill i get a GPU but i can live with that for a few months :) I'd really want an intel processor tho, probably wont overclock it. Dont think i'll be going for more than one GPUs either.
I just like to be really comfy, and instead of min-maxing everything for pure gaming performance i'd like to just have a really neat comp. Relatively silent and power efficient if possible but these arent priorities. Put my OS and the games i play the most on the SSD... Not playing any of the current top games anyway, atm its mostly starcraft2, wow, blacklight, some ocasional diablo or dota... waiting for EQNext and Destiny...

Checked Seasonic also, bit above the price i'm looking for. Still think i'm gonna go with the FSP raider 550w silver. :)

Hmm... Alright! However you could get an i5-3350P (3.1GHz, quad-core) and an ASRock B75 Pro3, and no aftermarket cooler since you won't overclock... And you could get the R9 270, but it'd be $750 and not $700... If you could spend $50 more, that'd be a good option in my opinion. Or if you cannot afford $50 more, replace the R9 270 for a GTX 650 Ti (Asus) and it'd be $690.

Good luck with your rig.

Thanks a lot for the help you guys, i'll postpone the GPU for now but thanks for the tips!
You've all been very helpful, i'll stick with the list i posted recently and get that FSP raider :)
Have a nice day!
