I have a biostar g41-m7 mother board a nvidia geforce 9600 gt video card on board audio and a yamaha rx-v473 5.1 receiver. I want to send video and 5.1 audio through the dvi on the video card to hdmi to the receiver. The mother board does not have SPDIF on it however the video card can accept SPDIF I need a cheap low profile sound card with SPDIF out on it or another way to connect all of this to my receiver

That is what I always thought too. But I have my GTX 570 connected from its DVI output to my 1080p HDTV's HDMI port using a cable with DVI on one end an HDMI on the other. I just switched Windows 7's default from my sound card/speakers to my Samsung TV. I am now listening to music from my PC through my TV speakers. I'm baffled, but it is working.
