I ran the intel diagnostic test on my CPU ( i5 6500) I saw that the IMC ( Integrated memory controller failed can that cause an effect on my PC?

Is it overclock (able)?

Yes, it can have a BIG effect on the PC. The IMC is the integrated memory controller in the CPU. I don't know how much credence the Intel community gives to Intel's diagnostic test results but a failed IMC means it will produce random garbage making it unreliable at best.

If it's overclockable and you have been then return to full stock settings; resetting CMOS is an easy way. If it fails again I'd suggest replacing the CPU.

Hey thanks yea I checked the download site and my Cpu wasn't on the "This download is valid for the product(s) listed below." do you think that might be taken to consideration?

Intel processors rarely fail.
Do you suspect a problem that led you to the diagnostic test?

For memory issues
Run memtest86 or memtest86+
They boot from a usb stick and do not use windows.

If you can run a full pass with NO errors, your ram should be ok.

Running several more passes will sometimes uncover an issue, but it takes more time.
Probably not worth it unless you really suspect a ram issue.

Run a couple of passes of memtest86 if no errors show you should be good.

Yeah, sounds likely that may be the problem. Even here it holds true that you should always use a product in accordance with it's labeled instructions for valid results.

Run some other tests.
