The ink cartridges are brand new and the test page comes out perfectly. Doesn't matter if I am using Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, or printing from email. I have tried to change the font and it still does not work. "Print as image" works for PDF, but it is still not a good quality (shows up in a very faint purple and is very difficult to read). I have updated the printer software and restarted both the computer and the printer and nothing will work. Please help!!

Wow, that actually worked!! Thank you for the suggestion. So, how do I get it to work in black? Just wondering... because I can't exactly bring a "red" copy of my resume to my interview! LOL

This shows that your black ink is not working, the fact that you had that light purple text in print as image gives the clue.

The test page is likely printed by mixing the colors together to make black, the black print out from the document is made with black.

Run a cleaning cycle on the printer, see if that helps. Your black ink head may be bad. Are these regular OEM cartridges or those cheap refilled ones?

That makes sense. These are not reusable cartridges; I buy them new from Best Buy. I just got them a couple weeks ago and the printer is already telling me to replace the black ink. I just tried ran a cleaning cycle on all colors and on the black by itself. So far, no luck. But at least I know it is a printer issue and not a software issue and I can start looking for a solution. Thank you!!

If the printer itself saying to replace the ink or the software for the printer on the computer? You can also try to exchange the black ink at Best Buy, tell them you installed it but printer is not working with it.
