In that original post of yours you mentioned that in the WindowsXP sound controls you found the mic mute box checked. You were not clear about if you unchecked it. It should be unchecked if you didn't.

(Start->Control Panel->Sound, Speech, and Audio Devices->Sounds and Audio Devices->Volume Tab->Advanced in the Device Volume box->nothing should be checked.)

-yeah, I did find it 'MUTED', but I unchecked that instantly. Thanks for reply, still looking for fix...
