Ok, £500 to play with, thught change would be nice

Need a CPU - C2D please
RAM - Not sure best speed.... maybe PC6400?

Mobo... with:
- 4 x SATAII (MUST)
- Core2Duo Compatibility (MUST)
- Easily Overclockable (At least to a degree, more overclock the better)
- 2 IDE Slots (preferably, not essential)
- NO Onboard Gfx (pointless for me)
- Crossfire (would be nice, not essential)
- 2 x PCI slots (3 preferably ... and that's two after a dual-slot PCI-e card is in)
- 4 external USB (preferably 6)

System used for gaming, encoding dvd's and using multiple apps

Cheers or that. However they're looking for a little lower than my budget. So it does appear the componenets are suffering for their choices.

I figure it is worth going for a P965, 975x or 680i Mobo

G Skill is a highly recommended brand, google some reviews.

And regarding the mobos, you wont get much of an OC with the Intel one, the Gigabyte one looks nice though. Also try for a nForce 650 motherboard.
