Help MOBO pci 2.0 v 3.0 for gtx 970 and amd fx 8350 cpu

Hi i'am wondering if pci 2.0 v 3.0 will make a diffrence for my gtx 970 or r9 290x im doing my first build and im on a budget so should i find a 3.0 pcie or just stick with the 2.0 ?

There is very little difference between the PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 slots. Here's some charts:

pcie 3.0 have almost doubled speed than 2.0 but it have no noticeable difference in performance of 970, if you are planning for future upgrade get 3.0 otherwise stick to 2.0

AM3+ chipsets don't natively support PCI-E 3.0. SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 does support it. I am not sure how exactly. You really won't notice any big difference. I don't see everyone with AM3+ buying a Sabertooth.

Ya..I dont think the AM3+ CPU do support PCI-E 3.0
but it will not be the big problem, for example msi 970 gaming

you can still install nvidia 970 on it, and it still work well
