hello

i have a question about molex and PCI-E connector, ofcourse this is about the power of GPUs.

I got radeon HD 5870 and it requires 2x 6pin PCI-E connector, I have 550watts PSU.

My question is which is better PSU's PCI-e connector which is like a y-cable or 2 PCI-e to molex cable?

PSU's PCI-e:

What PSU are we actually talking about? If your PSUs 12v rail is up to it then you want to use the Y connection since all your power is coming from a single 12v rail that helps stop fluctuations. You could probably do one pci-e connector and one of the adapters.

What "fluctuations" are you talking about?
How is using after market adapters to convert molex power connectors supposed to be better than the PCI-E connectors provider by the power supply manufacturer?
If the power supply does have multiple 12V rails, the provided PCI-E connectors and +12V supply to the motherboard (supplying the PCI-E slot) will already be loaded between them.

I didn't say it was better to use molex, I said you could probably get away with using one of them if you needed for some reason. I have with my old x1950. The multiple 12v rails I was worried about, were the crappy dedicated "cpu" 12v rail. As for fluctuations, I meant if the 12v rail becomes over-taxed it can affect the 3.3v and 5v rails.
