Hey there,
I will tell you the story of how I got to this point today, that I am currently stuck at. I am typing this on my backup laptop.
I bought a Geforce GTX 1060 and an SSD 250 to upgrade my PC today. I installed both without trouble. One thing that had always been bothering me was that I had to unplug my external hard drive from my USB 3.0 slot everytime I reboot, because the BIOS screen would just freeze at start up. I decided I would try to upgrade the BIOS today to see if maybe they created a better user interface to rearrange the boot order. I had been unsuccessful in the past in figuring out how to change the boot order in order to avoid this boot up freezing.
I went to the HP website and downloaded the latest BIOS update and installed it. The motherboard is an MSI product.

Looks like my system was 80.20 Rev.A and I tried to install the 80.24 Rev.A version update.
After installing it, I clicked the button to restart. After I did that, I got a black screen saying Missing Operating System. I tried to restart it again to try to hold F2 in order to work on the boot order, but when I restarted it again, the Missing Operating System statement did not even show up. It was just all black. I could hear my computer go into a reboot cycle a few times. I tried putting the monitor cable onto the motherboard video out but still nothing showed up.
Uh oh! I did a google search on what to do. It said to try clearing the CMOS by removing the pin connector thing for 5 seconds, or to take the battery of the motherboard out for 5 seconds. I did the battery out technique and put it back in.
Plugged the power cable back in, along with the monitor cable, keyboard and mouse USB cables, turned on the power, and still the screen is all black.
So now I am sitting here, kicking myself, wishing I never got involved with trying to update the BIOS. My newly update computer is currently just sitting there, unplayable. Any tips or advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated! Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum. Thanks.
Update: Looks like when I turn on the system, the mouse red light does not even turn on, or the keyboard numlock light. I tried switching the usb plugs around but seems like none of them are working. The fans all turn on, the computer on light is on, not sure what I am missing. Thanks.
