I need help I have a ECS-A740GM-M motherboard and a AMD Phenom II X4 965. The problem is that my Core Speed is running at 798.24 MHz, which it should be much higher. I tried updating the BIOS but it is not letting me(maybe im doing it wrong). I don't know if I should just buy a new motherboard to fix my problem or not and if so which one should I get?

Solution
The MB ( even the V7 version) does not support the CPU, because the x4 965 has the TDP 125W, and the MB can support up to 89W CPU, that is why your CPU run at the lower Frequency. So you need buy the new MB if you want to use the x4 965, you should get the AM3+ MB like GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128651 ) you can upgrade the cpu up to FX8320 if you want.

MB V7 version http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1083&MenuID=1&LanID=0
or V1 version...
