HELP.....mouse lag on new pc build with TV as monitor

So I just built my first PC and for a day I was using a 1440x900 monitor and today, I switched over to my 1080p Insignia TV. When I turned it on it worked good for a minute or two and the bam huge mouse lag until I could barely even move the mouse anymore. Can someone please help! I have my HDMI plugged into my graphics card and everything else looks right.
System Specs That I can think off the top of my head)
Radeon R9 290x Black Edition
2x4gbz RAM
Windows 7 home premium

You have to make sure the computer resolution is the same as the TV. Do that by right clicking the desktop, clicking screen resolutions, and changing it to your tv's resolutions.
