what games are you playing? That laptop is not really designed for gaming. It says "light gaming" which would cover things like WOW and games that are not power needy. If your Satellite is like mine and a lot of laptops your CPU and GPU share a heatsink which is not very effective for gaming since it's trying to cool two heat sources with one very small cooler. I don't know exactly what games your running, but try turning down the settings so they're not overworking the system. You can also try looking into replacing the fan to something with higher RPMs.

I played skyrim on maximum setting in the past and had no problem with it. Overheating started after a week i installed window 8.1 is this the cause?

Those are within safe temps, 50c is a bit high idle but 70c is perfectly fine under heavy load. I couldn't see installing Windows 8.1 causing overheating issues.

As for idle temps if it just started recently, how warm is it there? If it is in the 90's 50c idle is no surprise at all, try to increase air circulation in your room. If it is cool then all I could say is look if there are any programs running you don't notice such as virus scans, etc.
