Help my PC reboots during gaming

I have had my Dell for about 2 years now and suddenly the last three weeks it reboots while i'm playing Diablo 3 and The Sims3. Sometimes it just reboots and sometimes it hangs and I have to do a hard restart. All of the research I have found is either overheating or driver issues. I have wiped my pc and did a clean reinstall to factory default and still have the issue.

My question is this: is there a fix please or will I have to replace my graphics card and if so what would be recommended to replace a Geforce GT 530 (oem)?

When was the last time you cleaned your computer out? As in opened the case and cleaned out fans. Take the cover off fire it up and make sure the fans are spinning.

I cleaned it out a few months ago and again today I opened it up and used a can of air on it. I did test it and went back into the game and lasted for about an hour till it shut down again on me. Which was longer than the usual 15 mins of play time before it shut down.

If you have a normal fan for around the house maybe try taking the cover off and blowing it inside there with it running. Try your game again see if you have any issues. If its just poor ventilation from an oem case then it might not help much to just drop another video card in. Could also try looking for a program like evga precision X and run that minimized it should allow you to run a custom fan setting so that it ramps up with the temperature.

I will try the fan and see if it works, also tomorrow will buy another can of air. I did run out before got it cleaned out completely. I did notice longer play time before it shut down after what cleaning I did get done. So will cross fingers. Thanks for your suggestions.

Well tried the fan thing and what do you know. It worked. No sudden reboots. So guessing it is an overheating issue.

Yep figured that was the problem. Now you can either keep running it the redneck way ( which I would probably do since no one has ever accused me of being civilized ) or see about possibly replacing or installing fans if you can. Best of luck.
