Help, My Sata DVD Burner Not detected

I purchased a dvd burner and to my surprise it was a Sata. Deciding not to return it for a refund i decided to buy a Bi-directional Ide - sata adapter heres a link to what i got.

I plugged it in tried both switches And Nothing!
it states that its compatable with optical drives but no luck. Any Ides?
i am looking for some drivers but no luck.

May sound stupid but did you pluged the power supply on your drive?

yeah i did i figured out the problem its that the adapter was smaller than the outlining plastic so i had t be very precise when plugging it in or else i would miss 2 of the prongs
