HELP!! My WordPad is broken!

I need some help, whenever I try to go back and try to fix a mistake I made, it automatically gets rid of the symbol in front of it, like this: if I type "hi" and I want to capitalize the h it does this "H". please help me

See if that happens in other apps, if yes, check if you dont have the Insert key activated.
