[SOLVED] Help: Need SATA on Device to send data to Computer via WiFi

Hi Tom's Forum!

My first post and question. It may not exist, but I need something to make my setup work.

I have a device with a SATA connection for an SSD to store data collected by the device, it's a modified camera setup. Right now I collect the images on the SSD directly, then remove the SSD to upload the data to my computer. I want to find something that will allow me to plug into the SATA, make the device think it's an SSD and transmit the data via WiFi to my computer.

The transfer between device and computer can be real time or pushed or pulled at the end of the data collection. I'm trying to not need an SSD in the device in order to remove the manual transfer process.

Assume:
- I can't make any changes to the device and all I have to work with is the SATA connection for the SSD.
- I'm not able to add WiFi to the device, unless it is through the SATA connection.
- The device must think there is an SSD plugged into the SATA connection.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Solution
I don't think there is anything that will actually "work".

There's this:
https://www.amazon.com/Passport-Wireless-External-Portable-Drive/dp/B07C8LGFD9
WiFi, but no SATA connection, and only 10 hours runtime

There are WiFI enclosures, but no eternal SATA interface.

If this needs to run on battery, I can't think of anything that would work.
A continuous WiFi signal sucks up battery.

Solution
Here's a thought:

WiFi SD card, and a SD card->SATA adapter

Toshiba makes the FlashAir
https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-FlashAir-Generation-Wifi-memory/dp/B072SN7QK6

However, actually getting them to "work" is a whole different story.
And of course you'd be limited to the storage space of the SD card.

I was a longtime proponent of Eye-Fi SD cards. WiFi, and they worked pretty well.
Camera saves to the card, the card transmits to some WiFi device.
Of course, they couldn't leave well enough alone, and compeltely screwed the concept.
And it ate batteries.
