Ok, I was reading on the box of the GeForce3 Ti500 64Mb DDR card that your mobo needs to be 2.0 AGP compliant. What the heck does that mean? I really need to upgrade my vid card. At the moment I have a Voodoo 3 and want to get rid of it, will this new card work with my mobo? I have a A-Bit BX6 somthing or other mobo, its about 3 years old. If my Voodoo 3 card worked on it, wouldn't this new card work too?
Oh and my voodoo 3 card is an AGP one not a PCI. But I don't know about this 2.0 AGP compliant thing. I heard Voodoo's are 2.0 so this new card I want will work too right?
heres my mobo:

AGP 2.0 is a version of AGP. If your board supports this, you should also see a mention of AGP 4x somewhere. I used to have a Voodoo 3 3500 and it was AGP 2X, and I'm pretty sure that your's is also 2x. That means that your Geforce 4 which requires AGP 2.0 or AGP 4X may not run properly or run at all on your board.

Erm on the box of the geforce 3 it says AGP 2.0 compliant. It doesn't say anything about AGP X4. So it will work right?

It sounds like your mobo is AGP 1.0 which supports AGP 1X and 2X only. AGP 2.0 supports 1x, 2x, and 4x. The Voodoo 3 was for AGP 2x, so it could run on both AGP 1.0 and 2.0, but the GF4 is for AGP 4X, so it can only run on AGP 2.0. I don't think it will work, so why don't you just try it out or borrow a friends if you don't have the card yet. If you buy it and it doesn't work, make sure the store you buy it from has a good return policy that will allow you to return it. Bestbuy is good for that.

edit--> I know it's a little confusing but AGP 1.0 and AGP 2.0 are versions of the AGP slot. 1X, 2X, and 4X are used to describe the bandwith capabilities, with 4X having the highest bandwith speed out of those 3.

all new agp cards are backwards compatible to 1.0, bios tends to fix any other needed adjustments, just keep in mind why by a race car when you have no road to drive on? ur mobo will work harder to meet the demands of the ddr, while the card will have to dumb down to ur mobos specs. In addition to that, check out this bench mark review donw by tom's

it accutally pointed me to the right card for my system.

Hey pal, GeForce3 is also a 4X VGA Card. Anyway, you may find that this website useful about the graphic cards that you want to buy to suit your mobo...
