Help needed fast....CPU wont post

I need help fast. My Pc won't post. Here's the deal. I was playing around with OC'ing. I set my FSB to 200 and multiplier to 11 which should have set my CS to 2200Mhz. Now my PC won't post even after clearing the CMOS. I have an MSI K7N2-delta, Athlon xp2600+, 1 Gig Corsair DDR running at 400FSB, Geforce fx5900, Prior to this change I was running at 175 fsb and 12 multiplier and was running stable. Now I have no post. Any help would be great since I can't seem to clear the CMOS and suggestions on clearing the cmos or the failure of the cmos to clear would be greatly appreciated.

Remove battery, then clear cmos. Some motherboards requires removal of battery.

If nothing else works, order a new BIOS chip. MSI sent me one for free.

just to be sure...you shut off the surge bar/disconnect powercord before clearing right?

Just for kicks...try removing a stick of memory, the mobo might detect a hardware change and start at stock settings or something. Long shot but worth it...

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a processor

Don't know if it will help, but try leaving cmos pins set to clear for an extended length time "about 10-15 min." ,it worked once on my MSI board when it did the same thing.


note: taking the battery out at same time can't hurt either as said earlier.

When you resetted cmos pin, power was turned off at the back of psu right?

Up the Vcore a bit till it posts. Also put the Vdimm to around 2.7 and use the stock timmings for that ram. Afterwards you could tweek them down.

I cant even get that far. It won't even probe for the floppy drive. Sound like a bios chip gone bad anyone????

Hmm that sucks. Try these tricks:

1. Unplugg the floppy and CD drives

2. Remove the mobo from the case and put it on the static bag it came with. Then with just the AGP, CPU, RAM, and ATX power/4pin molex plugged in try to turn it on.

Afterwards time for a RMA...

How about this. I took and XP2000 out of my wifes machine at lunch and put it in and my pc works fine. Put my 2600 in hers and it does the same thing mine was doing. Bad CPU chip. Sending it back for replacement. 3 year warranty.

There you go, problem solved. The only problem bout getting a replacement is that the chip you will get will most likely by locked 2600.
