Help needed for pc upgrade

I have been given an acer aspire m1641
Core 2 duo 3.00ghz
4gb ram
400w power
500gb HDD
Radeon 5450 graphics card

I want to use this to play games possibly the lattest games if possible.
I was going to buy a new 1tb HDD,gtx 750 graphics card,500w power,and a new cd drive as the old one is broke.
What do you think will this make an improvement ,I don't think I can improve the memory anymore than 4gb as I believe that is the maximum it will take.
Any feedback on this will be much apritiated.

Yes, that would make an improvement... But I would not worry about the 1tb drive as 500GB should be sufficient for now. Instead by a new motherboard or a better processor. You could also do with an extra 4 GB RAM

Ok trouble is I dont think I can add anymore more ram as there are no more slots left and I think 2x2gb is the max it will take.
I have thought about a new motherboard but I dont have the funds to replace everything , ie processor, fan,case unless I can use my existing equipment on a new motherboard. Can I do that , if so is there a motherboard u can recommend to me.

If I was going to replace the motherboard it would have to be an lga 775 motherboard .any recommendations on which one as I can have 6 or8 gb of ram then.

Ok great so the ga g41m is a lga 775 socket and I can use my intel core 2 duo cpu.
Also the ram I have is ddr2 does this motherboard take ddr2 and ddr3
