Hi. I'm tying to get this beast to run under XP. I bought a USB/Serial
cable, which installed with the supplied CD. Looks like I have an
RS232 connection from the camera to the XP PC.

WIndows Moviemaker does not see the camera. Is there other software I
could try to upload the video stream?

Thanks, Tom

If the camera has a serial connection, you will need to use software from
the Mfr. to obtain basic connectivity.
There may very well be compatability problems with XP if the Mfr has not
updated the software.
Serial to USB converters are available, but will likely not work in this
application.
I have an old Kodak camera that used a serial I/O. Software updates were
dropped some years ago. It will work with Win ME, and 2k, (with some
reluctance) but not with XP SP2. On this old camera, the "raw" image format
is not compatable with "standard" image processing software. The conversion
to normal image files was done with the mfrs software.
