My PC have been randomly freezing(with very loud buzz when it freezes) while watching movie/playing games. So i've decided to upgrade my old PC. It has been years since i built my own PC and i need some help on which part i need to upgrade or do i need a complete change. I am not looking for high-end gaming, just a simple budget upgrade that allows me to play at least 60fps on mid-high graphics games, not planning on getting 4K anytime soon.

Budget Range: $1000USD (lower the better)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Watching movies/Gaming @ 1080P
Current System setup:
CPU: Intel - Intel Core i5-8600K
CPU Cooler: Stock Cooler
Motherboard: ASRock H370M-ITX/ac
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit
Storage: Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2, 80+ GOLD 750W
Case: Thermaltake housing Core V1

Parts to Upgrade: CPU, Motherboard, GPU, RAM?

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: amazon.com

Are you buying a monitor: No
Do you need to buy OS: No
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1080p

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: To replace my 8 year old PC

Your PSU is 8 years old at this point? IMHO, you could get away with a GPU and PSU upgrade, something like an RTX4060 or higher, though you're stifled with any overclocking potential from your K suffix processor due to the H series chipset and due to said chipset your ram is effectively running at DDR4-2666MHz as opposed to what you'd paid for.

Thank you everyone for the help and advice!
I'm leaning towards this, however, i would want to reuse my ITX case.
Would this motherboard work?
ASRock B760M-ITX WiFi LGA 1700 DDR4 Mini ITX

The case restricts the cpu cooler height and GPU length.

I would recommend this updated configuration:
