Help Needed: Will my slightly incompatible memory work? Corsair CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9G RAM in a Asus P9X79 LE Motherboard?

This is my first build and reading through the mobo's manual I became aware of the fact that there is such a thing as memory compatibility and, as it turns out, my RAM isn't on it.

I have a Asus P9X79 LE Motherboard and Corsair 4 x 4GB CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9G RAM. I'm hopeful it will be compatible because the 4 x 4GB CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 (A instead of X, no G at the end, and this has the same specs of 1600 Mhz and 9-9-9-24 except for it being 1.5v vs the 1.35v for mine) is listed as compatible. Does anyone have experience with this, know if motherboard's have any leeway with this kind of thing, etc.

I am almost certain you are ok.
You could ask the ramguy on the corsair forums to be certain.

If you already have the ram, go ahead and try it.

If not, go to the corsair ram configurator and look for a compatible kit.
Others like G.skil, Kingston etc have them too.

Thank you, yes I have it and had already opened the box, I will try it. I checked out Corsair's configurator like you said, and while they don't have the LE version of this board as one of their options, the regular non-LE P9X79 does in fact list it as compatible. I'll post my results when I'm able to test the memory.

As it turns out the RAM would not fit the large heatsink, so I had to switch it out for a low profile variety. The kind I ordered is on the compatibility list with ASUS: Corsair Vengeance LP 1.5v 1600mhz 4x4GB (16GB) RAM

The second set of RAM I ordered, the Corsair Vengeance LP 1.5v 1600mhz 4x4GB (16GB) RAM, worked great, though this was explicitly a set that was on ASUS's recommended list for this motherboard. I have to say though that the NH-D14 SE2011 heat sink really is massive. Even with this low profile memory, I don't think I have even 1cm of clearance between the RAM and the giant heatsinks.

Enabling XMP Mode was a breeze in BIOS too. This was my first time doing such a thing (never have really poked around BIOS before building my comp), and I just had to hit enable to XMP and the RAM automatically configured to its stated specifications, and that was it.

Good job.
I think it is usually best to use two 8gb sticks to get 16gb.
fewer sticks are easier for a motherboard to manage.
But, with a matched quality kit like you bought, there should be no problem.
