Hi everyone, so I'm looking to buy a Ryzen 5 2600 but I'm not sure which motherboard I should go for a B350 or X470. the B350 seems like a nice cheap option and it pretty much has all the features I could see myself using on the other hand X470 is more expensive but has more features and it will allow me to upgrade more easily if I wanted to, so I really don't know what to go for. also I plan on doing some overlocking but nothing too crazy so what do you guys think? Should I go with the cheaper option and invest in other parts? Or go with the more expensive option?

The B350 motherboards do allow for overclocking. If you're not trying to go for heavy overclocks then they should be fine. Good cooling is required too if serious about overclocking, though the stock cooler should be fine for light overclocks.

I personally have an ASRock AB350 Pro4 (with a Ryzen 5 1600). As noted the only complication I would anticipate is the BIOS the motherboard will have. The one you have in mind seems to have garnered good reviews, so it seems like a solid choice.

But to be on the safe side, AMD did have a boot kit service to enable the flashing of the BIOS so newer processors can be used.

The 'simple' answer would be to choose the motherboard which has the features you will and want to use. Personally I would rather upgrade and replace other components rather than the motherboard.

As a side note because you're considering the Ryzen 5 2600 is I would expect an X470 motherboard to be compatible with it out of the box; whereas a B350 motherboard may require a BIOS update before it will.

Yes I'm aware of that fact do you think the b350 is a better option since realistically I won't use all the extra features on the x470 and if I were to upgrade it would be after 3-4 years now do you think that the msi b350 gaming plus is a solid choice? Will it allow me to oveclock on it (nothing too high) and how does it perform overall with the 2600
