Help needed with graphics card, power supply & fan choices

Hello everyone!

So I've wanted a proper gaming rig for a while to replace the Dell office computer I'm currently using.

I've already bought the case, hard drive, SSD, power supply, motherboard and RAM, so I can't really change those.
I'm on the fence between the R9 390 and the GTX 970, but I've seen that 390 eats more power, and since I don't want to buy another PSU I'll most likely go with the 970. Would I need more than 600W of power with that build if I got the 390?
Also, would I need any more fans than the two 120mm ones the case came with? If yes, what 120mm would you recommend (preferably around £15 or less/fan)?
I'm not planning to overclock.

With that power supply I wouldn't run the R9 390. The GTX 970 would be a much better pairing and is still an excellent card for 1080p gaming.

You shouldn't need any more fans at the start. Try what you have first and take a look at your internal temp measurements to see if a few extra fans are needed. Always best to test first, no reason to buy hardware that you don't really need.

If in the end you DO want a few extra fans, the Corsair AF series and Noctua NF series are both some of the best you can get and run at around 18 quid.

- Cryorig H7 is a good cooler, but not available in your area as far as I know.
- MSI Z97 PC Mate is a budget board. Not a great board for overclocking but will do the job.
- Kingston SSD now is low performer. I recommend Samsung 850 or Crucial MX 200.
- Spec-03 case has 2 fans, 1 front and 1 rear. Don't add more unless temperature monitoring indicates a problem.
- Corsair CX series are low quality. I recommend EVGA 550 G2 or 550GS or XFX TS 550. Super Flower are also good.
- The R9 390 will run on a 600-650 watt PSU but not a low quality CX600.
