hi guys, so i just got a new laptop. so i took out my old hdd from my older laptop and connected it using a connector from my seagate external hdd. the hdd worked fine until i tried to delete its partition and the usb cord got unplugged. now it wont show up in my computer and in disk managment. when left connected to the pc for a long time, it will show up on disk managment but from there it it says UNALLOCATED and i cant intialise it. it gives an error saying could not initialise. i have nodata to recover from that hdd. I want my hdd to work again. Any solution can anyone provide?
Thanking you,

Hey there, geekybiker727.

Do you think that there might be a chance that you might have damaged either the connector or the HDD when you've accidentally unplugged it? I'd recommend that you try connecting the HDD to another computer internally via a SATA connection, to see if you'd be able to properly partition and format it. Another thing which you could try is - low level format (a.k.a. write zeros). This would wipe out everything on your HDD including the possibly corrupted file system. After that you'd have to initialize, partition and format the drive as if it was a brand new internal HDD. In order to low level format the drive (zero it) you could use an HDD diagnostics tool, which has that option, or try that via DISKPART. You could take a look at this tutorial for DISKPART: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52129-disk-clean-clean-all-diskpart-command.html
I'd also recommend that you run the manufacturer's diagnostics tool when you're done with that, so that you can test the drive for any possible errors or bad sectors.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

The problem is not with the connector, the light turns on as usual and the hd works. ill try what u have suggested guys, and will definitely let you know! and yeah i dont have another pc to plug it into.
thanks!

It's unfortunate that you can't try it with another computer and connect it internally so that you can test it. That would've been helpful. Try an HDD diagnostics tool to see if it recognizes the hard drive, so that you can test it and see if everything's OK with the drive. Even though the adapter you're using to connect the HDD via a SATA to USB connection might be fine, you could still try to uninstall it from Device Manager and reconnect it after that, to see if the drive is recognized properly. Also, would you please post a screenshot of what you see about the HDD in Disk Management (you've mentioned that it is detected there "when left connected to the pc for a long time")?
