Hey everyone, its my first pc build and i just wanted some clarification on the m.2 slots for M.2 SSD x4,

Im using a 10th gen cpu so m.2_1 is not available, If i use m.2_2 and m.2_3 (connected via the chipset i think) will it reduce the PCIE lanes for the gpu?
M.2_3 will disable SATA ports so will i need a m.2 SATA SSD or can i use nvme aswell?

TIA for the help!

Hey everyone, its my first pc build and i just wanted some clarification on the m.2 slots for M.2 SSD x4,
Did you read motherboard user manual?
https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/E7D06v1.0_v2.0.pdf
  • M2_1 slot (From CPU)
    • Available only on 11th Gen Intel® CPU
  • M2_2 & M2_3 slot (From Z590 Chipset)
    • Supports PCIe 3.0 x4
    • Supports SATA 6Gb/s

  1. SATA2 will be unavailable when installing M.2 SATA SSD in the M2_2 slot.
  2. SATA5 & SATA6 will be unavailable when installing M.2 SATA/PCIe SSD in the M2_3 slot.
If i use m.2_2 and m.2_3 (connected via the chipset i think) will it reduce the PCIE lanes for the gpu?
M.2 drives do not impact top PCIE x16 slot (where you normally install graphics card),
but M.2_2 slot will disable second PCIE x16 slot (PCI_E3).
M.2_3 will disable SATA ports so will i need a m.2 SATA SSD or can i use nvme aswell?
Usage of M.2 drive in M.2_3 slot (either NVME or SATA) will disable SATA ports SATA5,SATA6.
SATA5 & SATA6 will be unavailable when installing M.2 SATA/PCIe SSD in the M2_3 slot.

I did read through the manual but I also read online that in some cases m.2_2 will reduce PCI_E1 to x8 if used but maybe thats because they were using m.2_1, But thankyou for clarifying
