I was going to buy an i5 3470 or an i7 3770 for my pc because the Sandy-bridge i5 2400 doesn't support PCIe 3.0.So my question is this... Should I buy an Ivy Bridge cpu or save up the $556.97 for the new Intel Core i5-6600K 6M Skylake Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1151 + ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO Motherboard + G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series ...or should I go with an i5 4690k new mobo and keep the 16 GB DDR3 Ram that I already have along with all the other components? I use this pc for gaming mostly. I also edit videos for Plays.tv and YouTube. While playing games I use Shadowplay for my capture device I will sometimes listen to Grove music and have my GPUz or EVGA PrecisionX open on second screen to keep track of my GPU and other system info. Please any help and advice would be greatly appreciated this was my first pc build and it runs fine accept I think it can be better if I could have the PCIe 3.0 available for my GPU to have access to so I can get the max out of it. Thanking you all in advance on this matter!! dj1973

Ok ok...slow down..
Those are your CURRENT specs? the GTX 970?
I actually wouldn't change anything, save up for a new mobo + CPU perhaps, if you really want the latest gen stuff, but PCIe is backwards compatible, that means a card that has 3.0 works on 2.0 ports and, please correct me if i'm wrong (i've been out for a while), but PCIe 2.0 is barely (if any) slower than 3.0, maybe 10%? A friend has a GTX 960 on a 2.0 port and it runs magnificently.

Sorry it took me so long to answer I work long weird hours. I checked my bios turbo boots setting and I am guessing the h77 chip-set is a non over clocking chip-set because I can not change the multiplier in my bios settings or any other boost setting for that matter. Anything else that I might be able to do to boost performance? Again thanking you in advance for your help dj1973.

That is a terrible deal you dont need a 200$ motherboard the extra 120$ can be saved for zero performance cost you arent saving anything your just buying a motherboard they probably cant sell because its so expensive and meant for enthusiast
