Help new motherboard won't boot!

Hey

I've just bought a dell xps 8300 motherboard from eBay and a i5 2500k processor from eBay to go with it so that i can upgrade my pc but after installing everything it won't boot all i get is an amber light on the mother board and two beeps over and over again? Please help it will be much appreciated!

I am using 8gb orlf ddr3 ram at 1333hz

Do you know the exact model?

On the sticker on the ram it says

4gb 2rx8 pc3-10600 h
4gb, ddr3, 1333mhz, dimm

Also the motherboard powers up as soon as i plug the mains lead in and the power button is unresponsive

Then it might be a board issue.

The board was brand new though

Check mobo specs to see if you have ram in correct slots. Also is the CPU power attached to board.

Can you tell us what BIOS do you have ?
