I have recently tried installing a Radeon HD 7770 sapphire OC edition into my PC, however i connect the DVI From my monitor into the card switch on my pc but no signal is shown and monitor displays remains black!, the power is connected for sure because its my old power connector for my old card and the cards fan switches on and sounds like it has full power, its driving me crazy, do i need to update my BIOS which is the initial BIOS from 2008, by the way my motherboard is an ASUS M3N78 PRO , i have tried disabling on board graphics and everything aswell. can somebody give me any ideas?

I had the same problem, I tried everything...then I restored the Bios to its default settings and it corrupted windows and prevented it from booting. I was forced to put a clean windows on it while the computer froze about 100 times. It was nightmare. Now I have reinstall everything and there is a ton of problems with my computer. I had just bought a brand new 7850...the fans worked but I got no signal to the monitor, when I plugged it into the motherboard I got signal...

im not sure what make but i checked the other day and it was 450 watts which is what i need for a 7770 , do you think i should update my BIOS?

Make sure your power supply has enough watts to power the graphics card... also the pci slot might be dead... 2 dead cards?

well, the make of the psu can make a lot of difference. Some of the makes are so cheap that they can hardly draw 200w despite being rated 600+
just making sure- have you connected the 6pin pci-e power connector to the gpu as well?(Assuming your psu has one)

I doubt bios update would make a difference but you can give it a try.

-was your pci slot previously working?
- are fans running?
- card dead?
- power supply problem like other user mentioned?

pci slot is not dead because i can use my old card which is how i am talking to you now (its a nvidia 9800gt), and my new card has dvi, hdmi and display port and i tried HDMI Through the tv still nothing and then dvi to my monitor which is blank also, and the fan runs fully and card sounds alive when put in, and my PSU is 450 watts but then i cant remember make i know its was like CMC or something, (probably cheap) although it was from a custom built site so i dont know , i have literally tried everything,

was the site ibuypower or cyberpowerpc ?
- the standard power supply they give is cheap and most die in a few months
- they also do not give as much power as they state
- try getting a new brand name psu ( 80 plus certified ) test it
- if it does not work return it
- try returning card and getting a new one?

looks like im ordering a new psu, can you guys recommend me a 500 watt psu that wont break the bank but is good quality? much thanks!

ignore my post*

go for the cooler master one! it's cheaper !

yes Ebuyer is good, this Box.co.uk seems fine though , ordering that 30 pound coolermaster elite 500watt one, should be good, iv never installed a PSU though im only 15! Do all the cables just fit in nicely, or will i have to do my homework?, if its easier then installing a graphics card then i should be fine! hope this 7770 works with the new psu, however im confused because the 9800 gt which im currently using needs 400 watts but works fine, so the 7770 should have worked, but ahwell always good to buy a new PSU!, ordering a PHENOM II X4 955 soon aswell to replace my AMD ATHLON X2 6000+

good choice on the cpu upgrade! xD and the psu sable are pretty easy to plugin but there are plenty of build videos! :)

before you do would just like to know if you tried any of my suggestions as not sure if you were using an analogue connection with your old card to the monitor. If its as simple as that then good, if not nevermind 😛

yes cant go wrong with it, its only 70 pound amazon , love AMD, however disappointed with the new Bulldozer cpus , apparently there not that great..., so do you think a 500 watt psu , a pre overclocked radeon hd 7770 and a phenom ii x4, with 4gb of ram will be able to run battlefield 3 on high? thats the aim of this whole process! 😛
