thanks for the reminder boju, what you say is interesting, my current 9800 gt has 2 dvi ports, and my new card only has one so what should i do, however i did plug in a hdmi cable to my new card and connected it to my tv but that still didnt work, what is different (im only 15) is that the dvi connection color is purple instead of white on my 9800 gt? does that mean anything forgive me if thats completely irrelevant!

Hi :)

The colour doesn't matter...

Your 9800 pulled nothing like 400, think more like under 200...

All the best Brett :)

thanks for the reply brett, your probably right, its just i checked earlier as its years old and its (supposed) to have a minimum of a 400 watt psu

check the amps the psu puts out and read the requirements of the card. I'm no electrician but i know the card will not work properly if the amperage is not enough. Amperage is critical to provide enough power for the gpu as well as the rest of the system.

If the psu you have has only 20 or so amps, its cutting it very low.

7770 uses 12.1 amps and rough estimate of the whole system using 20-22 amps under load from a quality psu at 430w, better off with a 500 or even 600w with at least 24 amps.
