Help. No display after knock

Help! I bumped my computer while dusting around it and I heard that noise you get when you unplug usb devices and then the screen went black and says no signal! But my music on the PC was still playing. I have checked all cables and restarted the PC several times. It seems to technically work but no display. Thanks

Does it have a dedicated graphics card? If so, it may have come dislodged from the PCI-E slot. Power down the computer and unplug it from the wall. Then remove the graphics card and reseat it in the PCI-E slot. If it has a PCI-E power connector, make sure it's fully inserted. Then try to boot up.

How is your display hooked up? VGA, DVI, DVI-D, HDMI?

Either way, try unplugging the monitor from your pc and plugging it back in. It could be that the cable had a loose connection/short and just finally went, even if the bump was minor.

Belphegore: It's a DVI cable. It is a cheap and nasty DVI cable so it is possible that the cable has broke?

Yeah... more than likely it has. If unplugging it and plugging it back in hasn't worked, I suggest to switch cables. Preferrably to a decent one, good ones in Canada are only about $20, so they should be less in USD.
