NOTICE: My video editing is for call of duty gameplay, not real life footage or that. All footage is recorded from a HD capture card which is then edited into mp4 format. Just call of duty with after effects and little bit of 3d work.

I currently have a pc that is 4gb of ram and well the processer is Intel (R) Core (TM)2 duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz 2.92 ghz. (Sorry I don't know much about PC specs). My computer is OKAY for video editing in after effects (currently using 3gb ram) and sony vegas but I would prefer a PC with faster rendering. My MAIN reason to buy a new pc is for faster renders. Of course I will need to use the pc for internet and stuff but can you guys suggest a good pc that can make me happy with render times? My render times are not that slow... I just want them to be faster and Is this done by buying a pc that has 8gb ram? or what? my budget is £400 max. I have been searching online and some PCs have AMD processor and some have intel. Which is best for video rendering?

Also, what affects render times? Ive noticed restarting my pc and rendering right away renders a little faster as no other applications are open. What else?

yes my budget is £500

how about this:
case: NZXT Tempest 210
power supply: Corsair Builder Series CX430 430W Power Supply
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Six-Core 3.5GHz AM3+ Processor
motherboard: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Motherboard
memory: G.SKILL 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600 RAM
storage: Western Digital 7200RPM 1TB Hard Drive
graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 270 2GB Video Card/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB
optical drive: Lite-On 24x CD/DVD Burner
will that work for you?

I would not expect the best Editing PC for that kind of money. Most certainly you would have to go AMD. if you can get away with it a cheap Phenom II 965 or 955 black because they are cheap anyway and overclock well.....CPU: FX 4350 about $100 .CA, FX 6350 or 6300 about $140 .CA. Motherboard depends on whether you plan to overclock which will help wit rendering times. So many choices. this is a solid MB http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128651. but you would need a graphics card and Nvidia uses Cuda and then helps with rendering times in some programs. So more cuda cores is better but since you on a budget you will have to compromise. PSU this is a good place to start and work around this one to find one that suits your needs: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139049....I have to go I hope I helped a little

thank you all for the replies.

Erm, okay lets say my budget is now £500. I have been searching on the web, it intel or amd better for editing? also what is overclocking? how does it help with rendering

The site is pretty cool for the parts, erm i think im going to need help choosing parts for my needs? like for editing/rendering.

Intel or AMD?

Nvidia or AMD?

ALSO, what is the difference between a kingston memory and G skillz memory and other brands

Assuming everything else in your system can be reused, for now, this will help you big time with your rendering.

But he also needs a new gpu... that also takes some dough.

Sorry but he's looking for prices in quids and NOT Canadian dollars. Importing would cost a lot.
