Ok I am doing my grad project on how overclocking will change the fps of a game and have a pretty nice system but not to smart on overclocking. It runs at 2.4Ghz and i have the new zalman 9500 Heatsink on it so heat is not a problem. But i need settings for the multiplyer and so on to have it at a 5% 10% and then max stable cpu increase. With the gigabyte software i have it can go up to 11% then it reboots but not due to temp its the settigns that are wrong on it. All i have to do is click on an arrow and the Clock will go up or down. But i need acual settings to get my cpu speed the most stable with best performance fps wise.

Thanks hope someone can help me

it is better to go in the bios to overclock also memory makes a big
diff on overclocking my brother has an amd 3500 clawhammer 939
with 2 sticks of corsair value selct and i could only get his to 2310mhz
stock is 2200 i put my xms of the same ram and got 2507mhz and they were about 20 dollars more than the value select. also i have never had
any luck dropping the multiplier i always keep mine at x11 i had a msi
k8 neo4 sli with the 3700 sandy core and had it to 2507mhz with no
voltage bump for three months before the mobo gave up the ghost
but i had problems with that mobo from day one i now have the asus 32sli
deluxe with the same 3700 and 4 xms 512s and it is at 2608mhz with the multiplier at x11 and a slight voltage bump when i first tried the asus overclock tool it would drop the multiplier i had to go to bios to lock the multiplier at x11 i am not sure about the gigabyte but any way i overclock through the bios only

dont really know what all to change. Shouldnt i be fine with 4 sticks of corsair 256mb pc 3200. I just need someone elses numbers and results so i know what to change and how much. There any good overclocking software or should i just stick to overclocking in the bios. What other good programs are there for overclockers i have cpucool cpu-z just wondering if there were any other cool ones

4 sticks puts strain o nthe mem controller. try em at 1t but if it dont work , sell em and get 2x512. adn btw dont make drastic changes to the bios. comps dont like that. do htt change then boot. then mess witht ram. if u do both at once u might get a bsod

So you think i will be good with 2 sticks of 512 corsair xms?
some newb questions here what is 1t why not make drastic changes to the bios you saying i should gradually push it ? What is htt. What is bsod.

Oh and i found something and this guy got his 4000+ to 2.75 and a few others to 2.85 i think these are the calculations

Drop ram from 400 down to 333
Drop multiplier from 12x down to 11x
Increase HTT to 250
Increase CPU voltage a bit
Increase Ram Voltage to 2.7
Lock PCI bus at 33
That other option with 5x... DRop that down to 4x 2.75Ghz
