Hey everyone.

I'm at the tail end of collecting all my components for my new build but I'm stuck on my storage options. Quick overview of the components I have
CPU - i76700k
GPU - EVGA GTX1070 SC
PSU - EVGA G2 850W Gold
Ram - 16GB Kingston DDR5
SSD - M.2 Kingston 256GB (Planned on using for OS)
Case - Fractal Design R5
Cooler - Phanteks PHTC14

This build is being used for Gaming, Video editing and streaming. It's an upgrade from my current PC which I have 128GB SSD used for my OS and 1TB WD blue for storage and videos.

Am I better off to add a 500gb SSD to put Adobe Premiere on and use solely for video editing and quick boot games, and say a 1 or 2 TBD HD for storage? I wanted to leave the M.2 only for OS. How would you set this up?

Thanks in advance

Hey there, MANEGAME.

The way you've planned it sounds pretty good. I'd say that if it fits your budget, having the 256GB SSD just for your OS along with a 500GB SSD for video editing/streaming and separate drive for storage would be the best case scenario. However, I think that you would be able to put your programs on the 256GB SSD as well and use the larger SSD as a destination drive for your video files.

Just remember to have a backup option for you important files which can't be replaced - such as photos, videos, projects, documents, etc. An external drive or a cloud service could be good options.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
