Help on upgrading graphics card.

Hi! I'm a new member fresh off the batch, so do forgive me for any lacking pieces of information. I bought a HP-Pavillion p-7 1254 well over a year ago, and since then, I've noticed a reoccurring theme: Its graphics card is not all up to today's modern PC-gaming standards. I've been scouring the web for a good graphics card, and all I've found wwere these two cards: Raedon HD 7750 and 6670. I'm looking to play games such as Skyrim and GW2, amd my budget is around $100-200'ish.

-Do you think this is a good choice?

8 GB RAM
300W PSU
1 TB Hard Drive

you will also need to upgrade the PSU most likely. 400W (or greater) power supply recommended

+1 to that. Check what PSU you already have, but it's probably not great. As for graphics card, $200 could get you a GTX660 and it's a thing of beauty. Best bang-for-the-buck by miles. Do you know what you have already? If it's sub-6670 then you're gonna see a colossal improvement.

The 7750 has a max watt of only 55w, which should work well with my A6-3620 (2.2 Ghz) processor and 300w PSU. -I'll give my comp's specs in a few.

Then I'd recommend an AMD 7850 at your budget.

ATI no longer exist... you're maybe thinking of AMD now. They don't appreciate your brand loyalty anyway (none of them do - these are colossal tech corporations with billions of dollars, driven purely by profit), but if you really don't want nVidia hardware, a 2GB 7850 would do.

You maybe missed the 'none of them do' part 🙂 And I used to think that about PhysX because it's what everyone told me. I have a Radeon so haven't had the chance to play with PhysX myself. But somebody posted this:

Actually I went strongly into reading more and more about graphics card the last couple of weeks thanks to you. You were one of the firsts to recommend the GTX 670 for me over the AMD 7970 while others recommended the latter one so I was confused and I had to curiously read almost every and each review in and outside toms )

Hehe well I'm flattered :-D Did you buy the GTX670? It's a really awesome card - I'd love to own one, but I'm gonna hold off until next year's models. If GTX700 is as big an improvement over GTX600 as GTX400 was over GTX200 then it'll be worth the wait!

Yes I ordered it like 6 hours ago. Should arrive here on Dec 26 tho and I can't wait. I ordered the Gigabyte Windforce 3x one after a long time of confusion between rather to choose it or the Asus Direct CU ii non top.

Ah nice! I have to admit I'm a bit jealous 🙂 I'm gonna hold off on DLCs 3 and 4 of Borderlands 2 until I get a GeForce for the PhysX. Did you see that video ^? What hardware are you upgrading from by the way? Gigabyte are an excellent manufacturer - they're my combined top choice for motherboards / graphics along with MSI / EVGA. Anyway it's late where I am so I'm gonna grab some sleep. Have fun with your GTX670! 🙂 And OP, have fun with whatever you choose!

I am upgrading from a 2GB Gigabyte GTX 650. And the same for the motherboard, its a gigabyte as well. I dunno why but I am love Gigabyte products

I am not sure as I think you will need 500W (or greater) power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector to install that card. And.. for how much is that PC already?
