Help, Optical drive unresponsive

So I built my computer 2 years ago and the optical drive worked fine for a few months before becoming unresponsive. It showed up in the bios and the device manager but when I tried to open it the light just blinked at me and the tray wouldn't eject. I did some trouble shooting and determined the drive must be dead so I sent it back and got a replacement (exact same model). But the new one had the same issue. So I sent that one back and got a different model but I continue to have the same issue.

Trouble shooting tried so far:
Different optical drive
Uninstalling the drive from the device manager and restarting
Different SATA cables
Different ports on the motherboard

Please let me know if there's anything else I can try.

I've tried that with no luck :-(
