Help overclocking 5770

Im trying to overclock my saphire 5770 using ati catalyst. From the default 850/1200 if i even move it up to 855 and click on overdrive my system becomes unstable. Any ideas whats wrong? thank you very much.

BTW Specs are:

q8200 (not oc'd due to oem motherboard)
4gb DDR3
5770
500watt ocz Stealtxtreme psu

i have a 5750 with the same issue and there are other people in other forums with the same problem ati gotta fix this.

If you have the juniper XT version and are a novice overclocker ( im asuming you are because you are using ati catalyst and not rivatuner ) the best way to overclock any brand of the 5770 cards is by using the MSI afterburner software ( linked at the bottom ) even if you do not have the MSI version of the card it still works great, but you will not be able to up your voltage. best part is that it is powered by rivatuners engine which is which is the next best thing to riva it self.

I personally have the XFX version and I was able to get mine to 960 core and 1445 memory ( thats the cards cap ) with the afterburner software. I have played 6+ hrs of aion at max settings ( FYI-aion uses cryengine developed for crysis ) without a single problem, i have since reclocked it to 900/1445 due to the fact that the 3-5fps im gaining from the +60 to core are not worth the cost of the heat the card gains from the overclock. With these clock settings i do not see any temps above 55c using manual fan control set to 70%-75%

Also it is a good idea to get gpu-z, its very good as a second check to see if your clock took to the card

In aion I see about 60-80fps in highly populated areas and about 110-130fps in other areas, love this card, and it will only get better with new drivers.

just to add a bit more info, I just did a burn test with furmark for 10mins with my fan at 70% and my gpu never hit over 69c with 100% load so my clocks are stable lol

wha's the version of the rivatuner that you're using? will downloading the latest one work fine? i liked rivatuner for my older card because it allowed you to adjust fan speed at different temperatures, will it work the same for the 5770? thanks in advance.

I have not tried riva with my 5770 yet because the afterburner software works very well, and you will still get the same out come as you would by using riva (IMHO) seeing how afterburner is powered by rivatuner engine. I was not able to achieve a higher clock with my card due to it being limited by the non adjustable voltage regulators in the XFX cards.

But yes I would imagine that the latest one does work seeing as how it is powering msi's afterburner

my geforce 4 mx 64mb beats any ati graphics card because its got geforce in front of it
