Help Overclocking FX6300

So my bother built me a Computer for Christmas and I love it! It has an FX6300, M5A97 R2.0 Mobo, 8GBs Ram and 7790 Graphics Card. I want to overclock my CPU but I've never done it before. Can someone help a noob like me? thanks

What CPU cooler do you have and what are your temps?

To overclock. You adjust your CPU multiplier and monitor your temps to insure stability.

Um I think I have the one that came with the CPU. Is that bad? and can I overclock in windows or do I have to go into the BIos?

Before you begin, do not overclock just yet!! Never overclock with the Stock CPU Cooler. That's no bueno, and yes you can overclock with software but it's not recommended. the best way to overclock is through the bios and it's actually super easy. there are a lot of CPU overclocking guides that will be able to guide you through the process. But first things first, you need to get an aftermarket CPU cooler. I recommend the Hyper 212 evo, its a great cooler for the price and you'll be able to overclock really well with it.
