Help Overclocking my AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Brisbane 2.7GHz

can u guys help me overclock my AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Brisbane 2.7GHz 2 x 512KB

im new at overclocking stuff..so i tried to overclock my cpu to 3ghz but i just can't do it lol..

i over clocked my cpu to 2.89ghz and i cant get it any higher
FSB = 219 then the Multiplier is =13x
and everytime i lower my multiplier and increase the FSB (ie. FSB-270 x Multiplier -x10)=2700mhz after i save everything and restart my pc..my monitor just gonna go blank, so i have to turn off then turn on my pc like 3-4 times then it will say *it fail the last overclocking so they put the settings to default*... I tried all multipliers from x6-x12.5 and partner it to FSB that equals to 2700mhz but it always fail. I increased my cpu voltage to 1.400

but why does it say it failed overclocking when 2700mhz is the regular speed of my CPU?

well i OC my ram too but i dont really understand what i did to it, i manually put it in *800mhz and change the voltage to 2.0*. i also changed the timing..change everything to 6 and 25t..but i didnt really know what are those for, i just changed them.

Well, since you have 1066 RAM you shouldn't be limited by the RAM speed. Your CPU determins it's RAM speed by dividing it's core speed by 7. Still, you should check to make sure that your RAM is at a 2.1 voltage. By default your board will try and run the RAM at 1.8 and you probably won't get very far passed a core speed of 2.8 GHz without making sure that RAM is at the proper voltage. DON'T LOWER THE MULTIPLIER TO INCREASE YOUR FSB. You'll throw everything else out of wack faster that way. I don't see why you would do that unless you thought that you could run at a higher RAM speed that way. Just leave the multiplier on its default and slowly raise the FSB.

ok..i raised the voltage to 2.1..it was 1.9v before but im still stuck on 2.8ghz i have 2884mhz right now..
and i did what u said i left the multiplier in default which is x13.5 *thats the highest multiplier i can choose on my BIOS*..and my FSB right now is 211..my cpu voltage is 1.375v.. and i set my *ram to AUTO and all the timer to AUTO..

should i manually put my Mem Clock Value to 800mhz?..and played with the timer and guess which number is it? lol
what is CPU Dynamic OC do?(ie. Private 1%, Sergeant 2%,..etc)

and theres a choice in my RAM menu which is *Enable Clock to all Dimms* which is currently disabled right now..should i enable that?

and it's kinda weird because the first time i did it i got my cpu to 2.9ghz FSB=215 Multiplier=x13.5..and everything is on auto but when i tried to increased the FSB to 216 it failed, so i did the previous setup but it keeps failing when i change my FSB 12 and up after i restart it...weird

One thing that can cause instability in OC'ing and AMD system is that the FSB being raised is cause your HT speed to increase by that amound x5. So if you do need to lower the multi to increase the FSB and memory speeds to where they are more stable make sure to change the multiplier on the HT itself to something that helps to maintain it at or around 2000mhz. It has been a while since I OC'd an AMD system, so I dont have to much more input for you, but i thought it would be a good point to make. Have you checked out any OC'ing guides?

Understandable. Well I personally do not know exactly where it is located in the bios, but it is probably labeled as HTT Multi or something along those lines. If you look at the settings in the bios I would assume the max to be 5x and then go down from there. So if you see that setting then it is going to be the one that you are looking for. Best way to learn OC'ing is to do it, but I can understand the want to be safe and understand the process...especially when just starting on the endeavor.

Hello, with this CPU you must do like I've done.


HTT: 4x
Disable Cool And Quiet in Bios
FSB: 266
CPU Voltage: 1,4 (for me it works and is stable even with OCCT hour test.)
Ram: Set at 800Mhz (with the Overclock will be running at 1066Mhz)
Multiplier: 12

Now you have your CPU running at 3192Mhz with HT 1064Mhz

I've a NF560 based mobo and I can beat 10000Mb/s in Everest Memory tests.
