Hi I have a dual PIII 866 on a Asus CUV4X-DLS, one 78 GB and another 17 GB SCSI disk. I have a Matrox G450 . One of my cpu is reporting a very high temperature , while the other one is running normal. the temperature are : CPU 1 73 C/168 F and other is 48 C/120F
Whats happening , is this normal or Do I need to replace my mobo. My machine is otherwise normal , no crashes and is fully ACPI compliant.

thanx for your help.

I would start first at making sure that the fan is plugged in and working. If so was any kind of paste put on the heatsink before placing it on the cpu? Make sure the heatsink is on properly. Other than that maybe switch the cpu's around?

Good Luck

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and most of them stink

I have checked the CPUs and even swopped them , fans are working properly.

obviously one the the heat sinks in not contacting the CPU die properly or need thermal paste which someone forgot :(
make sure paste in on both, and they are mounted correctly..

if that does not work then get a better CPU fan

normally CPU's can operate in the 38-55C range OK.
