I just purchased a atholon 1000 retail boxed version and asus as7133 the temp reports 32 for motherboard temp and 61 for cpu is this norm?
temp in cel.

Hmm... NO!!!!
Well the MB temp is quiet normal if you have a normal case, not one of them h4rdc0re OC's k4z3 😱p
But the CPU is WAAAAY too high
my cpu is 44 idle and 52 full load, and i havent even come around using anny thermal paste, just the sucky "therminal" tape that came with the HSF, i have a GlobalWin fop32 something.. annyway, i think i should be able to keep the full load temp under 50 deg. with a little work.
But Yours is TOO high, i dont think it will damage the cpu, but i can cause some trouble with stability and things like that, so u might ; 1. If you have some retail fan.. get a bigger one , 2. if you have a MOFO fan, check if its "connected" to the CPU right, else, i dunno.. but its a bit to high yes

The true temp can only be taken if you buy an actual temperature monitoring device, you can find them at www.inflowdirect.com

But, the motherboard temp. sensors are usually pretty accurate.

What kind of HSF are you using? I have a 1.2GHz Athlon OC'sd to 1.33GHz and my CPU idles at around 40 and never gets above 53 under full load. I am using an inexpensive Coolermaster HS with an upgraded fan and some thermal goop.
