Ok, after several posts, I have it down to two boards.

- asus p5b delux (3 pci slots)
-gigabyte ga0965p-dq6 (vista certified).

These both look like great boards. I plan to put an E6400 duo core 2 in it with two 250 SATA drives set to raid 0.

Going to use x1950pro video board.

I plan to run xp pro (or xp pro 64 ... but people sending me lots of warnings on this) until vista comes out then put vista on it. I tend to keep a computer for a long time (still running an old PIII about 5 years old).

Any advice over the two boards?

I like the idea of 3 pci slots (one for tv card, one for modem .. for phone answer and fax not net ... and one spare for future).

On the other hand, the gigabyte is vista certified (premium not just vista ready), don't know if this matters?

Thanks .... Mike

Vista certified means jack on a mobo - seeing that the CPU and Gcard has the final say which rely on the mobo - but alot of mobo's support dual core cpu's and PCIx prior to the whole VISTA cert. The only edge such a claim has is in the HD Audio department.

So, on to the mobo:

I was looking at the 965 P5B and the DS3P/DS4 - I stuck to the Asus, as it had 8 phase power as opposed to the 3phase from Gigabyte. But seeing that you are eyeing the DQ6, I really can't comment. It's suppose to be quite a good mobo and I like Asus going the solid capacitor route on their mobo's - but I had a bad run with Gigabyte MANY years ago (stupid hatred - I know), plus I like the attention to detail Asus provides.

It's down to what you want: stability / overclocking / available settings / additional functions etc.

Where I'm from, the DQ6 was a tad more expensive than the P5B Wifi - otherwise I would've bought it perhaps...
