Hello everyone,

I recently built a new PC and have been using it fine for the last couple of days. My displayport monitor had a loose connection (i didnt know if it was the cable or graphics card port) but every time i would move a cable at the back, the monitor would go off. So i pulled it out and all 3 monitors went off this time, and would not come back on, but the computer was still on. So i couldn't see the screen to re-do the monitor settings. So i pressed the reset switch on my case and when the PC started back up i could hear the start up sounds but no picture on any of the screens. So i pulled out one of the DVI monitor cables, and the PC just shut off, as if i had pulled out the power cable. I put it back in and pressed the power button but nothing, the PC will not turn back on at all. The power LED (green) on the motherboard is on, and the LED on the Ethernet port is flashing, that's it for any signs of life from the PC. I'm certain it is all wired up correctly because i have been using it for the past could of days with no problems. Can anyone help me with what to do with this problem, i have no idea where to start!

Thanks.

But will the Graphics Card stop it from turning on at all? Can't it turn on without a GPU and use the motherboard graphics?

Yep, just told myself not to be lazy and try it. I have put the graphics card in my old PC im selling and its running the card fine. And then tried my old gfx card in my new pc and still no power. Is there a way to start the PC other than the case power switch, because there is power going to the montherboard, i cant see why its not starting.

try and swap out your psu from your old pc and put it in your new one as you need to test all possibilities now looks like a psu problem. create a connection on the 2 pins that your power button connects to with a screwdriver and that will work just the same as the switch

Its my motherboard! I have replaced the PSU and connected it all up and its the same. The green light comes on but will no boot up! Is there anyway of fixing the motherboard? Its brand new only used for like a week.

try clearing your bios find your cmos clearing pins on the mobo best to remove all power from the motherboard when you do it. only problem is if it boots up you need to enter all your settings again a pain i know but it will be worth it to get your rig up and running again. let me know how it goes :)

Hi, thanks for your support so far. How do i clear my BIOS? How do i use these CMOS clearing pins exactly? Ive never heard of it. Thanks.

on your motherboard you have a battery that keeps your bios settings from being lost when you power down next to it you will have 3 pins with a jumper on 2 and 1 that you can see follow this guide

Power down your PC.
2 Locate a rocker-style switch at the back of your PC (if applicable), and switch it from the on position (I) to the off position (O). If there is no switch disconnect the power cord from power supply.
3 Find the 3-pin jumper near the power supply on the motherboard, typically labeled "Clear CMOS" or "Reset BIOS".
4 Remove the jumper from the default position (typically connecting the 1st and 2nd pins).
5 Replace the jumper to connect the 2nd and 3rd pins.
6 Push the power button on the front of your PC once.
7 Wait a minute.
8 Return the jumper to its default position, connecting the 1st and 2nd pins.
9 Move the rocker-style switch at the back of your PC (if applicable), to the on (I) position.
10 Power on your PC with its front power button.
11 re enter your settings for boot order - date - time - sata mode

give me your mobo model and i can help you locate it
