Help picking gaming monitor

When it comes to monitors for gaming, I'm completely lost. From my understanding, its pointless to get a 4k monitor since games can't even run at that resolution. My friend who I trust (built my computer practically) recommended this one:

I did some looking at my own and I seen someone put 3 of these together. Is this one any less as far as visiuls go? If so, how big is the difference? This is the one I was looking at:

I appreciate the help. Wanna get the best out of my money spent for the best looking visuals for gaming.

Well the Acer is top of the line -
144 Hz, IPS panel, G-sync for your 980Ti

The Asus is a regular 2k display, 60Hz IPS no G-Sync
Still a great screen for it's price tag

Depends largely on the kind of games you play

Games like dark Souls 3, wild lands, players unknown battlegrounds, arma 3, a lot of AAA titles. Lot of alpha games, basically loads

I'm kinda in the same boat with same questions. If you don't mind I'd like to add a question along with yours?

If I get the 27 inch at 2k and am forced to play at 1080p how bad is it going to look on that 27inch? 1 of my main games is only 1080p and it's chugging the gpu as is. 1080p is fine for me just wanted to know on a 2k monitor what can I expect?

Comes down to budget. Don't think you'll need a 144Hz/G-Sync screen but it's nice to have one.

As for 27'' 1080p... Opinions differ. I don't like it personally.

So I ended up buying the preditor with gsync and 144Hz. Was a lot of money but after some reading it sounds like it's worth it. It comes in the mail later today will let everyone know how it is!
