my computer is getting an upgrade mainly ssd and I wanted to upgrade the ram but have a problem as I only found out it had 4 gb currently has 2 sticks of kingston ram 240pin very narrow ram.
2x kvr8000d2n6/2g its like a squished sort of ram as its only about 18mm high any way I went to ebay and some Chinese guy was selling the ram but he said it wont work for my motherboard and directed me to some other ram and it was like over $200.
Here is the asustek website info on the ram it takes. x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR2 1200(O.C.)/1066*/800/667 ECC,Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel memory architecture
*We recommend that you install the DDR2 1200 memory modules on the yellow slots for better performance.
*Due to AMD CPU limitation, DDR2 1200(O.C.)/1066 is supported by AM3/AM2+ CPU for one DIMM per channel only.
*Refer to www.asus.com for the memory QVL (Qualified Vendors List)
The thing that is confusing me is the ram suggested looks alot taller than my ram. The ram chips on my ram looks square while the one pictured looks like a rectangle. I also am confused by the term PC2-6400 as above asus makes no reference to pc2-6400. Also finding DDR2 1200 seems impossible can any one help?
Here is the link sent to me by the chinese company. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171934273699
This was the ram I was going to buy but the chinese seller said this ram will not work I am still unsure as the picture of the ram looks simular to the size of the chip on my current ram. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Samsung-16GB-4x4GB-PC2-6400-DDR2-800MHZ-240pin-For-AMD-Desktop-Memory-RAM-/171735459043?hash=item27fc3b24e3
ebay item is 171934273699 just in case the link gets removed.
